Program Eligibility

To be in Cal Poly Humboldt's Klamath Connection, you must be a first time freshman in one of the following majors:

  • Environmental Science and Management
  • Fire Science & Management
  • Fisheries Biology
  • Forestry
  • Rangeland Resource Science
  • Wildlife

All first-time freshmen declared in one of these majors are automatically placed in the Klamath Connection Program. If you would like to live with other students in the program, select the Klamath Connection Theme on your Humboldt Housing Application.

We have other Place-Based Learning Communities (PBLC) for students in other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) disciplines at Cal Poly Humboldt:

  • Among Giants is a PBLC for students majoring in Biology (not Marine Biology), Botany, or Zoology
  • Baduwa't to Bay is a PBLC for students majoring in Environmental Resources Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Representing Realities is a PBLC for students majoring in Computer Science, Data Science, Geospatial Information Science & Technology, Mathematics, and Software Engineering
  • Rising Tides is a PBLC for students majoring in Marine Biology or Oceanography
  • Stars to Rocks is a PBLC for students majoring in Chemistry, Geology, Physical Science, or Physics & Astronomy
